The ski area is also second-to-none, with 650km of slopes set out over 12 linked resorts. The Portes du Soleil was one of the first European resorts to actively seek out snowboarders in the 1990s, and continues to be a European centre for the sport most recently with the opening of Burton's Stash freesyle area.
